Infrared thermography

Standard non-destructive testing for complex composite parts can be tedious. Infrared thermography can detect defects and delamination after rapid heating by a powerful light flash. I modelled the thermal behaviour of materials and tested methods to extract defects from thermographic images.

Laser ultrasonics

Laser-induced ultrasounds can be generated directly on the part, while laser beam reflection can be used for detection. This creates a fully non-contact wide-band method. I contributed to the specification, installation and initial tests of laser-ultrasonic equipment for aircraft composite-part inspection.
